Dr. Thomas P. Finley, O.D. F.A.A.O.
Dr. Thomas P. Finley is committed to providing you with the highest standards of professional eyecare available.
Dr. Finley is originally from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis College in Pennsylvania and his Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Following graduation, he served as an optometry officer in the United States Air Force for eight years, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Commendation Medal.
Dr. Finley has served as an adjunct clinical professor for The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, The University of Alabama School of Optometry, and The InterAmerican Puerto Rico School of Optometry. He has been a clinical investigator for major contact lens companies, and a past Advisory Board member for TLC Laser Centers.
Dr. Finley has published several articles in professional and trade journals and local newspapers. He lectures at many educational conferences on contact lenses, laser vision correction, eye diseases, and children's vision. He also gives presentations about the eyes and vision care to many service organizations, schools, and nursing homes.
Dr. Finley is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Fellow of the Virginia Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association, Virginia Optometric Association, and Northern Virginia Optometric Society.
Locally, Dr. Finley serves as an active member of the Herndon Rotary Club (past president), Herndon Chamber of Commerce (past board member), Optimist Club, and Knights of Columbus (past board member). He is also a board member and contributor for the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic. He was awarded the town's "Distinguished Service Award" for volunteer community service, and the Chamber of Commerce's "Small Business of the Year Award". He was also awarded the Times Community Newspapers "Best Eye Doctor" several times in their Best in Fairfax competition.
Dr. Finley lives in Herndon with his four children. He enjoys coaching youth baseball/softball and basketball, and playing softball. Some day he hopes to break 100 on the golf course. |

Dr. Sara E. Jones Optometrist
Dr. Jones received her B.A. in Biology degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2002, and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2006. She’s worked in a group optometry practice in North Carolina until her move to northern Virginia in April 2007.
Dr. Jones received extensive training fitting contact lenses and eyeglasses, working with children, and diagnosing and treating eye pathologies. She is currently involved with the Wellness Committee of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce. She joined Dr. Finley’s Family Eyecare in May 2007.
